Just a heads up.....

My son was visiting his grandmother last night in Sun City and decide to take their two little dogs out for a walk around 1am.

This is near the Palmbrook Golf course, they were attack by about 14 coyotes.....they took the smallest dog which my son fought them back and was able to retrieve but not before they killed it.

The other dog was able to get off the leash and run away, it is very fast.......once he was able to find her she was bitten on the neck but not fatally......both dogs just had their rabies shot last week.

My guess is with the lack and rain and summer heat that they are really hungry and more are moving into town but I've never seen that many together before....be careful out there.

Thanks for the heads-up. I carry pepper spray on my dog walks. More for other dogs JUST in case they get aggressive.

I'd be interested in how the coyotes attacked (details appreciated). How heavy were your dogs? Did he lift them in his arms? Did any of the coyotes get aggressive with your son?

According to Jordan, they surprised him...he didn't see them until they attack the dogs so he didn't have time to pick them up.

The one that died Pixie was a mini very small dog like a snow ball......they took off with her.

The one that survived is a little bigger but very fast......when they attack her she was able to get off the leash and run away.

They never attack my son but we was able to run them down (former running back) and kick and punch them and they dropped little pixie but it was too late.

There are coyotes all over the Phoenix metro area. Used to live near 7th Street and Thomas in one of the historic districts and I ran into them a few times during early morning walks with the pups. One of the old eccentrics on our block fed all the local feral cats and always had at least a dozen to two dozen cats roaming around their front yard. Our coyotes knew it was like shooting fish in a barrel and they'd swing by to scoop up breakfast every morning.

Around here from 2 to 4. Never had a problem with them. They usually come early in the AM right after dawn looking for rabbits.

Around here they look for cats, small dogs in addition to the rabbits. My NextDoor feed is full of local posts about how Fluffy the cat or Skippy the dog are mysteriously missing Feel bad for the pet owners who refuse to accept reality and spend weeks upon weeks putting up flyers and social media posts all over. If your pet is gone for longer than 48 hours, they've more than likely ended up as breakfast.

I am buying a home in Sun City West and was sitting outside it in the car at 8:30 PM the other night just to see what the street is like at night while I am still in my inspection period. I was very surprised to see a coyote run in front of my parked car and into the backyard of the homes. Driving home I saw a second coyote.

I wonder where they sleep during the day.
