Like wine, I'm guessing you want a furnace to age a few years!?

In all seriousness, did you see how the unit arrived at your place? Was it boxed and sealed? Is the unit still a current model? Did you ask your installer why it is 3 years old? Generally, no HVAC installer is "direct" with the factory. They use distributors. So maybe it was sitting on the shelf and didn't get pulled (they don't use LIFO).

I don't think it had ever been installed. I noticed the dent...lots of circuit boards and sensors..They replaced it, without admitting wrongdoing.

Welcome to Arizona! I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this but first let me preface by saying we’ve chosen Arizona out of anywhere in the US. But the place has some of the most unethical, shady business practices.

Is your furnace a condensing furnace? Those almost never sell here and could have been sitting since 2018. Some homebuilders install non-condensing furnaces in new construction, but the vast majority of replacements of existing systems tend to use electric heat pumps.

standard 80% efficiency nat gas....
No longer in AZ, after owning five homes there. I know you all constantly battle the hvac pirate ships, so i posted here. FWIW..high gas pressure caused a minor glitch..so that is something else to be prepped for...gas co fixed for free..but still...gas pressure of 7.4 may have been enough to make the unit malfunction...and again..sensors, circuit boards, and too many liars. All taken care of,,and I would even rec this company. Locked in at 4.29 per million btu..that is like paying 39 cents per gallon for LPG...
