Do you think they're building this facility due to the escalation of hostilities by the Chicoms?
Possibly but also the US is a huge market for electronic stuff, so I’m sure it helps them on logistics. They say they can’t build on earthquake lines and sure, that’s why none are on the West Coast. But I’m not sure why they picked Phoenix. I guess it’s the closest big city that isn’t California… but that also doesn’t explain Intel either. So again I don’t know why they pick here.

FYI everyone I know being hired there is going to do the Taiwan training, so it’s all of those jobs except maybe the more business/administrative end. But those of us who would be on the chip floor like myself or literally any engineer is going to Taiwan for training. They even ask if it would be ok or if you are interested in living in Tainan City for 15 months… something I said yes to.

After three hours of interviews (fortunately at night for me since they were on Taiwan time) I was reviewing their VISA process and what Tainan City is like. Florida climate, apparently. Then I was ghosted.

I’ve seen a lot of new grads being hired there for engineering.

Is Phoenix going to be expanding public transportation up there? Traffic is horrendous up in North Phx.

It certainly is on W. Deer Valley Rd near the airport. Yikes, what a cluster.
