I was told that this area is similar to scottsdale/PV, true that? Please describe Cave Creek in short so I can peg it, thanks!

I find it more rustic than Scottsdale or PV. It's a small town and not as busy as Scottsdale by any means. It's not my thing, I prefer Scottsdale and PV much more.

If you go to google maps and check out the satellite view of Cave Creek you'll see it's a lot more spread out than Scottsdale and PV.

Cave Creek is also farther from the major job centers.

Not really. It is more removed and as AzDreamer said, more rustic.

There are far reaches of Scottsdale that are similar, but they're not really what Scottsdale is known for... at least not in recent history.

The comparison is pretty broad, because of Paradise Valley primarily. The household income of Scottsdale and Cave Creek are probably closer to each other, than are the incomes of either, when compared to Paradise Valley. PV is off the map compared to other areas, in temrs of household income. That is because it is small, and all of it is expensive. Scottsdale is massive and has a wider variety of homes and incomes, although it is still high. Cave Creek is probably the lowest of the 3... but it's still an affluent area.

This site has a lot of good information on household incomes, that you could use to do a comparison.

It is definitely affluent. It is more rural. Lots are typically 1-5 acres. People there are looking to be removed from shopping, and are into hiking in the mountains (which are right there), nature, etc.

We LOVE Cave Creek and Carefree (Carefree is technically more affluent than Cave Creek, is master planned--which Cave Creek is not--but Cave Creek prices have caught up tremendously and the differential is much smaller now).

We don't like Scottsdale or any of the rest of Phoenix, from what we've seen. We used to live in Tucson and it reminds me of a much more upscale Tucson.

We don't live there....I asked a lot of questions on here as it was somewhere we really wanted to live, but...it does not seem to be hugely child-friendly. We still haven't written it off b/c we just love Carefree/Cave Creek area and w/o kids we'd be there in a heartbeat. Schools are rated toward the top in the state (greatschools rates them a "10") although people don't seem to be aware of that--maybe b/c it's a small district? Lots of money there.

Definitely NOT a "happening"/nightlife/shopping mecca though so if that's what you want, you won't find it. But lots of natural desert, natural beauty, more land per home, great restaurants (though only a few b/c it's a small town).

When I driving through Care Free and cave Creek the other day I kept saying that it felt like areas of Fountain Hills.
