Frankly:

What irks me are the inordinate number of people who live in the Phx area and infer that it is better 'back east'.

BTW: I am a Wash DC native who left that emotionally toxic place for the west 30 years ago and has yet to return to the DC area even for a visit.

Note: I try to avoid bashing Virginia, etc. whenever I post in the NoVa Forum.

I truly mean no offense, but if you haven't been to DC in 30 years, how could you possibly know what it is like now? I've seen Phoenix change drastically just in the 20 years i've lived here. For instance, the fields where I used to buy corn on the side of the road in chandler 10 years ago have since been plowed over and replaced with a Hooters and a tanning salon. That is the epitome of Phoenix to me.

The main reason that I left DC was due to the damn weather closely followed by the bad attitudes of the women there.

As for the Phx area being too big-----------that I do agree with. This place has deteriorated greatly since 1990.

All of that stated: it is still much better here----------for me.

Well, therein lies the issue.... you live in PHX and state that its "much better here----------for me", right? Well, the people that live in PHX that state how much better it was back East are simply doing the same thing you are... sharing their opinion and personal observations. Many are stuck in PHX and are very displeased with it, and its their personal right to state how much they dislike it. Im sure those people, if given the option to leave ASAP, would pack their bags with no questions asked.... same as you did when you left DC.

Know what you mean--11 years ago, West valley had some space. Now, it's being Hooterized, too.

Agree, NYC is the home of fashion and new trends. Far more stuff starts in NYC than L.A.
