Zip code 85254 is part of Phoenix, yet has a Scottsdale mailing address. Would I be able to use Scottsdale public services (YMCA, library, etc...) with this address?

As an aside: do you think that this area will ever change to a Phoenix mailing address?

Not sure about the services part, but change to a Phx address, I would have to say never. That's a great area to live and I just don't see that changing. There are lots of cities that overlap like that. I lived in 85254 when I was a young kid, but then moved a couple miles away into the next zip over and always thought of 85254 as Scottsdale.

Thanks for the replies. I am still amazed that you get the benefits of living in Scottsdale, yet you pay taxes to Phoenix.

As an aside, does the Phoenix metro have any other "magic" areas like 85254?

Benefits? The Y and most of the libraries are not city specific. Maybe reserving a park ball field would be city-specific. When you go to do that, you will be considered from Phoenix and be tossed out. I think the only benefit, if you want to call it that, is to have Scottsdale in your return address. LOL, that doesn't impress me. BTW, I don't know but bet you pay more taxes in Phoenix than you would in Scottsdale, too.

Don't know about the YMCA, but the city libraries are city specific. To get a library card at the Scottsdale city library, you have to show proof that you are a current resident of Scottsdale (driver's license with Scottsdale address, bill/statement with Scottsdale address, etc).

Yep, I live in one. I have a Glendale address/zip and live just inside the Phx city limit. I didn't realize until at least a year living here. We have 3 different city boundaries up this way... Glendale, Phx, Peoria. Depends on which side of the road you live on.
