Where are the alternative areas from which this poster is looking:"Want to move to a Conservative town in the surrounding Phoenix area, help!!"?

We are looking for areas where there isn't a lot of proselytizing from religious types and more of a live and let live attitude. We do believe in community and responsibility so a place with considerate, stable and financially secure neighbors with a strong work ethic is also important but not snooty or obsessed with materialism. I am not a church goer, not really a believer for that matter. I would like to live in an area where there is a more open minded and tolerant attitude especially in the schools. Good schools that is. How are Waddell, Wittman, Litchfield Park, Anthem, Vistancia? What about Northeast Mesa, Surprise, Peoria or North Phoenix? We are medical people so we can live virtually anywhere and be convenient to work. We know the areas by visiting but it's impossible to get a sense of how people interact in just a day or two.

At the risk of being hypocritical we do want to live among and have our children go to school with like minded people. People with the same economic circumstances which is solidly middle to upper middle calss.

Oh, sorry. Don't come here. I live in N. Scottsdale, which is no doubt republican, but I've been here for Five Long Years. There are no Liberal places here. Maricopa County went Red. Save yourself a headache and DO NOT MOVE HERE! Seriously. I am doing you a favor by saying this. I am well educated. I have an MBA. I am a Liberal. Do NOT move here!

If a true mixture of views are what you are seeking (which would be good for your kids) there are lots of areas, Mesa being one. If you really want them exposed to a truely liberal life style I would suggest Tempe. The closer you are to a college atmosphere the better chance of liberal views. Even then, don't expect Calif or Or views or the views of the academia New England to be apparent in AZ.

They are NOT apparent, because they are NOT here! I grow weary of people on this board trying to convince outsiders to move here, under some guise of panacea. It's not here! This is NOT a liberal place. All one has to do is to look at the polls of the election to get it! This county went Red! And Mesa, excuse me, is a pit!

Arizona, on the whole, is considered a Conservative state. That said, there are areas, like Northern Arizona, are liberal. Also, our governor is "liberal" - as is our Attorney General.

So - do your "homework", realize that no State, no City is "totally" Liberal (or Conservative)

Arizona is a great state to live - there are pros and cons - just like every other state or region.

Good Luck

Arizona is more Libertarian vs. being either Liberal or Conservative.

I am an Old School Liberal----------meaning I support the little guys against unethical big businesses, etc. Note I do not support illegal immigration. Said lawbreakers basically undermine both the Rule of Law and blue collar Americans.

For once, we agree. The north and south are liberal. This place we call Phoenix, is NOT. I do believe the OP is interested in the Phoenix metro area.

Sorry, but McCain, a republican DID carry the state. So, I guess it's really NOT more libertarian.

OP seemed most interested in religion (or the lack). This state may be conservative, but it is a sea of the marginally devout who would rather be at the lake or in the mountains on Sunday than in church. The occasional mormon missionary or JW may knock on your door, but that's about it as far as religious proselyting goes. This ain't the bible belt.
