I pay about $190. High tier internet, unlimited phone plan, and all the channels except Cineamax and playboy. I have three boxes, one HD.

I'm not part of the industry and not apologizing for it - just explaining why we all pay so much for cable TV.

Exactly correct! Programming costs are steep for all those you mention. Some of them are so high some of the Companies carry them at a loss to attract customers. Thank the Manning bros for high nfl network bills.

We pay $14.99/month for the basic internet service, with no cable TV or phone. You have to ask for this price; they don't advertise it.

The cheapest way to get all three services is to get either Qwest or Cox internet, use Magic Jack for free phone service and buy the software that allows you to get free television on your computers.

If I were pressed for $$$ this is what I would be doing. I am not too crazy about watching television on my computer, although you can hook up your computer to your TV if you like.

2. DVR basic cable + Showtime ($59.95)
3. Phone ($36.25)
4. + Taxes ($6.91)

We don't need the phone at all, however when we try and remove the phone they say they can't give us the "Bundle" discount which actually makes the bill be more than with the phone.

So, we called their sales department who gave us different pricing for just the cable($37.95 for 6mo., then $58.95 after), and internet ($44.95 9-12MB).

When we called customer service to get our account at the pricing the sales department gave us they said they couldn't and they don't see how or where they got that pricing. We think they are full of it.

Is this reasonable for a COX bill?
You don't need a phone, that is a lie.

I have a bundle with cox, we have these services:

Digital Cable + HD Receiver - $60
Movie Tier - $5
Perfered Internet - $45

After taxes and fees we pay $119 a month.

We recently got our Cox bill down to around $100 a month. We basically told them that we wanted to close our account because we can't afford them anymore. They eventually came around and worked with us. We eliminated our phone, down graded our internet speed, and got rid of all our movie channels.

I don't like the slower internet, but I like the cheaper bill.

Cox raised our broadband from $15/month to $20, but the speed is still 512 kbps (slow). Is there any other way to get broadband in the Glendale area? It seems like Qwest and Cox are the only providers, and Qwest charges more. I'm willing to pay a little more, but money's a little tight right now. They ought to be lowering prices to retain customers, but then again they're a monopoly so they can do whatever they want, I guess.
