I'd like to live near Glendale. I'm a single mom with a 3 year old and an 11 year old.
What are the safest, most affordable areas that also have really good schools? I'd like somewhere that has good traffic routes and options, no more than 20 minutes from Phoenix or Scottsdale.

Thanks

I am not entirely familiar with Glendale other than general idea where it is, but you do realize Phoenix is an absolutely HUGE city of like over 400 square miles right? Glendale may put you 20 minutes from some piece of Phoenix, but what "piece" of Phoenix are you interested in getting to? I am not sure you could even do Glendale to any part of Scottsdale in 20 minutes. Scottsdale is nearly 30 miles long (but fairly narrow).

What exactly are you looking to be near? The valley is HUGE. Phoenix itself is HUGE. I live in Phoenix. My niece lives in Phoenix since she moved last month. She lives 32 miles away....

Look at the East Valley areas, Gilbert, Chandler, South Tempe and Ahwatukee.

I agree with that. It's esthetically pleasing and missing the weirdo's of mill.

I also live close to Desert Ridge (I am at Desert Club at Chauncey & Scottsdale). It is a nice area. But I am not sure it classifies as "near Glendale"? Tho I suppose it isnt that far. Doing a mapquest from my address gave me 25 miles to at least some portion of Glendale.

I just visited my niece today in Ahwatukee. She is at S. 48th & Ray. Basically that was about 25 miles too from where I am. She lives at San Melia Apartments. They seem pretty nice.

I agree with the votes on the Desert Ridge area. It's not that far from Glendale if you take the 101.

Hey ivanabacowboy. I live at 42nd and Ray in the Ahwatukee area. But still don't mind going to Desert Ridge every now and then. I like Salute - my sister and her boyfriend and I would go there all the time.
