Phoenix has a midwestern feel....Vegas has a LA feel? Is that a correct statement?

No. There are a lot of Midwesterners in Phoenix, but it by no means makes Phoenix feel like its in the Midwest. Outside of the strip Vegas and Phoenix are quite similar. If anything, Vegas and Phoenix feel like Riverside County, CA.

I agree. Not very midwestern feeling around here - more like LA. The largest group of immigrants are from California. California is right next door. California is a big vacation spot for AZ. These things are reflected in the look of houses, the freeway culture, the malls, and brands of stores in the malls and the general vibe. Same thing with Las Vegas. Las Vegas and Phoenix are pretty much the same outside the Strip.

Phoenix has a San Bernardino / Riverside feel. Unfortunately a lot of white trash in Phoenix. I think most of them are imported from the Inland Empire.

Give me the definition of white trash because of sick of people from California using that word.

It's a common word coming from trust fund babies.

Nothing midwest at all about Phoenix. I moved here from the midwest (Cleveland). As Ponderosa mentioned, once you get outside of the strip, really not much difference between Phoenix and Vegas. Other than Vegas will get a bit colder in the winter, has bigger mountains, and seems to have even more concrete than Phoenix. ;-)

That said, I have never been to California (and proud of it lol!).

The Inland Empire is an apt description of Phoenix. We have tons of Midwesterners, but this town has none of the characteristics of a Midwestern city.

Phoenix does NOT feel like the midwest...that's why I'm leaving. Phoenix has been a big letdown.

No. Phoenix has a ton of midwesterners, but except for certain areas like Verrado and maybe a couple of the historic districts, really doesn't have a midwestern feel. It feels much like Vegas does outside the strip. Vegas may have a slightly more LA feel in terms of cosmopolitan appeal on the strip, but other than that has its own unique pulse.
