State budget solution is to borrow from school districts | state, borrow, budget - Breaking News - Ahwatukee Foothills News (http://www.ahwatukee.com/news/state-6726-borrow-budget.html - broken link)

I thought being above budget was a good thing to help support itself when the funds dry out, but if the state decides to cut the normal funding i guess they will be forced to use reserves; in turn, having nothing for backup when **** hits the fan. Oh well.

Are we going to fire the arizona senate, jan brewer, and the rest of the politicians? What do they do? seriously. Why is the state not in the hands of the state accountants and other necessary people.

random rant-
I hope my wife, an at risk kids, teacher, a future special ed teacher, can find work in this state.. I don't know why my parents keep coming back here. My grandfather an Arizona native and WW2 vet, my father an Arizona native, and myself an Arizona born, nothing has changed when times get tough. I remember back in the 80's recession, things were bad and the governement steals money and businesses move else ware.

I cannot move back to California because it isn't the state of greener pastures anymore...lol

I agree mostly. If anyone had any doubts about where the priorities lie in Arizona, this budget should set them straight. So what states do you (or anyone) think value education and look at it as the last, not the first, thing to be cut in a budget crunch?

Unfortunately, even in states that value education (such as it is in the United States), education does get cut. But they have bigger budgets, so there's more to cut.

Our school district does not have a big budget and we are in the top 3 largest school districts in Arizona. They are cutting curriculum specialists which is absolutely crazy. These specialists are also teachers on assignment or new teacher mentors who have a HUGE hand in preparing curriculum for our students’ k-12. The cuts have to come from somewhere and unfortunately, we don't have much as far as casual spending goes so anything they cut would directly affect students. Just too bad that education gets cut and Chrysler and GM get billions of dollars in bail out money......I would laugh because it's so stupid but it's really not funny.
