There are numerous flaws with these radar cameras! They simply cannot enforce the law like experienced human officers can.

Here's the article:
Nearly two-thirds of speed-camera pics tossed

So how do you figure they are saving lives? Where is the hard data to prove that speed cameras are reducing fatal accidents? The truth is that there is no evidence to suggest anything like this. People may be driving slower around the camera locations ... but slower doesn't translate to safer. Did you ever consider that perhaps our more stringent drunk driving laws might be having an effect on reduced fatalities? You should know by now that intoxication/impaired driving is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents ... not speed!
Why are you guys still arguing about this? The cameras are done for all intents and purposes. They are going to be there until the contract runs out with the company that makes them. The contract ends in the fall of 2010. Until the contract ends, nothing can be done about them. However, in the mean time, there are legislators and activists that are taking measures to get rid of them. There will be a ballot and they will be eliminated. Don't waste your anger and energy on an issue that has been solved. Let's aim that energy at the NIMBY's Honestly, its just a matter of time in regards to the cameras.

Don't be so sure. It seems like there have been polls that indicate that people support the cameras. I hope that they stay. I can't speak to the specifics of safety but traffic seems to be less of a nasty experience than it was before. The cameras have forced some of the nutcases who think it is their god-given right to drive 90 to calm down a little.

Try driving on some freeways with cameras (west side 101 & I-10) and then hop on the 60. It's night and day. It's very relaxing driving with everyone going 65-72 mph. Sure, you still get the occasional idiots who weave in and out of traffic and then slow down for each camera but it does feel much safer overall.
