I would hope that everyone who has a gun in the house and would use it against anyone who entered their home would read all the justification statutes VERY carefully, and understand what they mean-- in terms of both criminal responsibility and the civil liability exception. The defense of justification, as defined in the various statutes, is not a license to shoot anyone who comes in your house or on your property.

What if you put up a sign "Trespassers will be shot"?

Some posters seem to be on the side of the burglars and think they should just be slapped on the wrist...

I'm glad I live in a state that allows me to shoot and kill anyone breaking into my home or stealing my car if I need to, to stop them...

The best way to stop burglars is to kill them off, the fewer there are the better...

2 year is nothin! Besides ANY circumstance you can argue the burglar was blocking your exit and you had to shoot them.

How many bedrooms have an easy exit to the outside? Not many.

You don' argue anything after a shooting. You don't even tell the cops what happened. You call your lawyer, then you call 911 and keep your mouth shut until your lawyer is there and has told you what you can say. Even cops who are involved in a justifiable shoot are told to keep their mouth shut until their lawyer gets there.

I like the idea of a pet tiger. Eats the burglar, chews up the bones, and then you put what's left out with the trash. Simpler than involving the law.

Sorry, Arizona does NOT allow this. Like I said, stop and READ the statutes. Just as an example, I recall that a man was prosecuted for shooting someone he caught leaving his driveway in his vehicle. I'm not "on the side of the burglars" but the law is what it is.

The ONLY thing you say after shooting someone that broke into your home:

"I was in fear for my life".

I just thought I would let everyone know that they caught 2 kids robbing a house on Tuesday. They tried to flee, however they got caught. I have high hopes that these could be the ones that hit our house and maybe we could get something back. I am not going to hold my breath, but I can wish.

You can check it out on ahwatukee.com or it is in the foothills paper. They also caught 5 gang members and they have done some robbery and burglary. Well you never know.

I do know that next week, we are going and getting a gun. Going to teach the wife to shoot and help ease my pain at the same time.
