There are still huge swaths of vacant land surrounding Westgate, which to me is very unappealing for being within close proximity to major sporting venues. A lot of these vacant land parcels were supposed to have been filled by now ... but they are still sitting empty, remaining as ugly as ever!

As far as the city of Glendale: it has its better areas, and less appealing parts. I think what you're referring to in terms of "prejudice" is the west Valley in general. I know there are some unfair stereotypes ... but a lot of that is because Maryvale and many other areas in the west Valley have some bad reputations.
The true diehard NHL fans will drive a distance to see the games - even if they live in the East or South sections of the valley.

Didn't you read where game attendance is up at Westgate compared to when the Coyotes played in Downtown Phx?????

Agree with you about Maryvale somewhat. Still don't think it's a true Ghetto like some other parts. Ever been to Compton or South-central LA? Now that's Ghetto!!!!!!!!

i have lived in the Arrowhead area of Glendale for two years (from Ohio/ midwest) and I love it. What some call the undesirable areas really are just older neighborhoods, every community has an older area unless there was nothing there to begin with.

there are plenty of things to do and having the 101 is convenient, besides the stupid traffic cameras.
