exactly - the place isn't as dead as some like to make it seem

This suggests that the actual average number of butts in the seats is under 11,000.

The Coyotes' attendance figures*revealed - From The Rink (http://www.fromtherink.com/2009/6/3/897211/the-coyotes-attendance-figures - broken link)

Oh Chesus Rice! The number is 10,943...LOL! But sold tickets is 14,000...so 3,900 people have paid for tickets but didn't make it through the turnstile gates...maybe they got drunk at a bar/club at Westgate and never made it to the game, LOL!

People were fine talking about attendance when it supported their claim, but now that it doesn't, we must "get over the attendance figure issue". That's called flip-flopping, which is typical when FACTS start to go against someone. I would love to have the Coyotes in Phoenix if there was a market for them, but there isn't. Go to the AZCentral website and you will see that their sports tabs on the main page are "Cardinals", "ASU", "Suns", "Dbacks", "Blogs", and "Photos". Blogs and photos trump the Coyotes in terms of reader interest. That is pretty telling.

Actually, from the beginning and how the thread was going at the beginning, attendance was never an issue to support someone's claim. As I said earlier, from the beginning of this thread it sounded like only a few thousand people went to a game, but THAT simply isn't true. So the attendance figures would support our claims and not yours. No flip-flopping just a realization that the majority of the arena has a butt in the seat and people are going in huge quantities given the losing record of the team and the "lack of interest" on the AZcentral sports blog pages.

So ....... that's what happens when you have a metropolis that's around 5M people - you have pockets of support for most things

not to mention that most of those sports are in season right now - or that ASU has 50k students there are a time and a huge alumni base, you think they just may get some local interest?!

as far as attendance #s, I'll still go by the official paid gate - at this point blackberry and moyes have zero credibility with me and I don't trust moyes to keep a straight set of books if his life depended on it

also I still maintain that phoenix as a market is far from a failure because for something to fail it indicates that something has been tried

all that has been tried is building developments, funneling $$ to special interests, using losses in the club to directly profit other personal ventures, etc.

no one has yet tried to actually run a legit NHL team out here yet
