Tyring to find a nice apartment but its hard to judge these places online, im looking in the mesa, tempe, or scottsdale area. I was hoping for something that is closed gate and either near or preferable on a golf course. Any suggestions? Or perhaps another area that would be a relatively short comute to my new job at falcon airpot which is in east mesa. Thanks in advance

You can find on Apartments For Rent - Nationwide Apartment Rental Search - ForRent.com whether a Phoenix area apartment is gated or not. You can select the amenities.

Consider a gated apartment complex next to a non-gated one and virtually no rent price difference. Burglars would tend to go to the non-gated complexes. Also corporation-owned apartment complexes (that are nationwide) tend to have gated apartments. Mark Taylor comes to mind. And I think Equity apartments. You can google them.

I live in Southeast Phoenix so probably it's 25 miles from that area in Mesa you are interested in. I love my apartment complex so far. It's far safer than the Scottsdale apt I used to live in. And quieter too, verry quiet. I thrive on quiet places and I am as quiet as a church mouse so as not to violate my own values.
