Advertisements

Hello,

I'm being relocated to Phoenix from Chicago in the early part of next year and have been looking for a condo to buy. There's been advertisements for an auction of new condos in Scottsdale, but I don't know anything about the area beyond what I see on their website. www.AuctionArtesia.com. Anyone have a perspective on whether this is a nice part of town to live in? My office is in the Scottsdale Airpark area so I think it's relatively close. Thanks for your help!!!

Very nice area of Scottsdale. I didn't realize those condos were even there, or that the Radisson Hotel (which used to be on that property) was gone. That's a very nice location, pretty central in Scottsdale, and close to the 101 to connect you to freeways to take you to other parts of the Valley/

very convenient location....development has a good feel to me

I went and looked at the "brownstones" there that were auctioned off several months ago (more are evidently now available)....they originally were asking around $1M for them, but they went for about $400-$500K at the auction

there is still construction going on at the location and there'll probably be more auctions later....the builder is respected, I think....some retail is out front making for a nice combo of residential and business....it's an on-going project right now

the condo buildings are a bit apartment-feeling, but they aren't condo conversions, fortunately....not much view in some....check out what the HOA fee will be....$165K for a 950 sq. ft. condo in that location is somewhat fair, but not at all a steal....the cheap ones will have no views and may feel tight, but the location is good and, after construction is done and when the market gets better (4-5 years?), they will be decent....

Your commute to the general airpark area will be approx 5 miles give or take (depending exactly where in "Airpark" area you work). About 5 miles or so in the other direction you have Fashion Square Mall and the waterfront and Old Town. The location is a very nice area of town. I've been to the restaurant in Artesia before (Roka Akor)-good food but a tad on the pricey side.

Also to add if you are working in Airpark area and the auction at Artesia doesnt work out, look at Kierland area. This will put your commute to about 0-1 miles (Kierland is in the general Airpark area and is another very nice area of town). Or Desert Ridge and City North (commute about 3 miles or so).

jsilver....look around, if you have a chance....many, many choices out here and probably something a little more convenient to work, if that's important....think about a month of living at some "extended-stay" hotel while shopping around, like Marriott Residence Inn, though rates will be sky-high in the winter

There are some nice places on Thompson Peak Parkway off of Frank L Wright that are very close to the airpark...if that helps any!?

Default I have a condo in Scottsdale

I own a condo that is very near the airpark area. I would like to rent it out furnished with an option to buy. This might work for u so that u could look around and decide where u want to be. It is about 1600 sq ft and has 2 bedrms 2 full baths.Let me know if this would work for u.

Scottsdale is perhaps the most upscale city in the area and my favorite of all in the Valley. It is a lot different than chicago here and a lot less crowded. There are some nice condos around S-dale Fashion Mall with a lot of shopping and nightlife in the area. It's a straight shot up Scottsdale Rd to the Airpark so it would be easy for you to get to work and back home.
