As a kid I remember my parents taking us to an older neighborhood in Scottsdale named, "Candy Cane Lane". Aparently every home owner is required to put up lights. Does anyone know where in Scottsdale this neighborhood is?

I don't think there's any neighborhood now, (who knows whether there really was then) where everyone was required (by something more than peer pressure) to put up lights. I've lived in the Valley a long time, including a number of years in Scottsdale, and I've never heard of it, or sure can't remember it.

That sounds like the one I'm talking about! Thanks! What a shame though.

Here is a photo of the Three Wise Men that used to be decorated each year at 68th and Camelback. I believe one of the Saguaros died so it was not done anymore.

Now that you mention the location, it does sound familiar. I just didn't remember the name. And, in that location, I'm sure the residents weren't compelled by anything other than peer pressure or getting caught up in the spirit of the season to put up lights.

I know this is old but I was thinking about family and remembering good times as a kid so I thought I'd share.

The address was right. N 80th place. My grandpa and his neighbors did it all together and nobody was forced to. My grandpa made all of the cut outs every year for the entire cul-de-sac and they were all free. If you didn't want to decorate he would offer to help but if you didn't want to be part of it that was fine also. We decorated the day after Thanksgiving and left everything up until new years. Christmas eve my grandpa dressed as Santa. We put a fire pit in the center and passed out candy canes to every one that visited.

Everyone has since passed or moved away so it is no longer done. Hope this helped or brought back some good memories. :-)

There's a neighborhood at 56th Street and Michelle Dr. in Scottsdale where every house went all out for Christmas lights. Worth seeing! It attracted people by car and on foot. I think one year they even sold hot chocolate on one of the streets. I remember saying to my husband, "We'll never buy on this street. Oh, the pressure!"
