Still on the hunt for my first home....just started noticing some nice places in Avondale and from what the people I work with tell me, it's suppose to be one of the nicer places on the west side? Found a bunch of nice looking houses in the area, especially in the 85392 zip code. The only thing that worries me is that there are so many houses for sale in that zip code. They also look very similar to many houses I see in the Tolleson area, which I hear isn't the greatest. Any info on Avondale? How's the outlook for the town, is it a good place for a 22 year old to think about calling home?

Avondale isn't one of the nicer "places" on the west side. It has some decent areas but overall Avondale isn't a very desirable location. Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Surprise, Sun City, parts of Glendale and Peoria are the nicer places on the west side. I would put Avondale closer to the bottom then the top of the west valley cities. I would put it right above El Mirage and Tolleson.

agree - there are 2 zips that cover avondale and you did note the "better" one ..... i think there are some areas of northern avondale that blend into goodyear and are part of the litchfield elementary school district and zoned to the more desireable highschools in the agua fria district ..... the area around dysart and indian school comes to mind

Avondale is hit-or-miss. Stay north of the I-10 and you'll be fine. East of the Agua Fria River (but south of the I-10) is ok, too... but, as a general rule, north of the I-10 is where you want to be if you're gonna live in Avondale.
