I can't think of a thing to change in your photo. It really appealed to me.

Resolution Still pic
6.3 MP [2934 by 2171] total pixel count
6.1 MP [2864 by 2160] effective pixel count
Video clips...I am not using yet

So in answer to you question I keep it at 6MP

Katie, what is the make and model of your camera? That might help.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please
Musincy is right - the issue you're speaking of, Katie, is not resolved by the number of MP your camera has; it has to do with your zoom lens. Your camera has a 3x optical zoom (pay no attention to digital zoom), which isn't very much. Say your camera lens is 30mm when it's not zoomed. 3x zoom will be like a 90 mm lens. However, if you were to get a camera with 10x zoom, it would be like having a 300 mm lens. That's a huge difference.

Probably the easiest way to understand this would be to go to a camera store, and play with the zooms. You'll quickly see the difference.

The megapixels indicate how good the quality of your photo is, and it really comes into play when cropping and enlarging photos you've taken. The higher number of MP you have, the more you can enlarge the photo without losing quality. However, unless you're planning to make poster-sized prints, 6 or 8 MP should be fine.

BTW, several of my friends have this camera, and they love it. They've gotten some awesome shots with it.
