Katie, there were a lot of great shots that got lesser votes. Although, it does appear that some votes weren't spread around as much. Just my view.

One thing that "I" think might help would be to have a larger picture to view. Detail is a factor, and with a smaller image it makes it harder to appreciate the photo. Try a larger file next time, see if that helps.

I don't know that you did any thing wrong, it just wasn't what people were looking for and you never know what is going to be pleasing so someone's eye. I have been very surprised at the number of votes certain pictures have gotten in all of the contest.

One thing too, Katie1 is framing.

The picture you took was of to the side and the 'horizon' isn't flat. It's running across the picture.

I also might think about hosting the pictures on photobucket or something similar. I'm just a novice but one thing the old pros on here taught me was presentation.

Look into some digital framing etc (like several of the ones in the contest have).

I don't think your picture was bad....just not 'as good'....does that make sense?

Yeah sorta.

One of the PS gurus might be able to take your pic and give a little representation of what I mean.

Bottom line is this place is an awesome tool to help you take better shots. It's certainly helped me. We have some very talented (and patient ) folks here!
