Apparently, that lens has a vignetting issue, especially at the settings you used (focal length and aperture). I think another stop (f/8) or two (f/11) would reduce, if not eliminate that.

For the first few shots I was underexposing by about one stop, then later I adjusted to underexpose less, I think maybe a third of a stop. In the later shots the vignetting isn't really noticeable. However, for those shots the subject was completely different (flowers with a busy background), and a later shot of the same boat was taken from a different angle, facing the sun. I'll have to check and see what the focal length was for the later shots. I'm thinking for those I probably had the lens zoomed in more.
