Monroeville is a great mall that's had a nice makeover in recent years. It's also where they shot one of my favorite movies, Dawn of the Dead.

But just as a brief overview, Century 3 is ghetto, South Hills Village is nice but smaller than the others, Robinson has all of the corporate shops you could ask for, Ross is very nice and upscale, Pittsburgh Mills is nice but has nowhere to shop due to vacancies, and Parkway Center should have been closed a decade ago.

For me, "nice" and "mall" don't belong in the same sentence. If you want a good shopping experience, go to Shadyside, Squirrel Hill or the Southside Works.

Gosh, when I have out-of-town guests, we NEVER go to a mall.
We do Shadyside or the Strip... or even the Works.

Why a mall?

A mall without a book store is not a mall. Its a concentration of stores.

Isn't there a Borders right near Ross Park? I'd rather have a larger, free-standing book store, than a smaller version inside the mall.

I think Robinson and Ross Park are the nicest aesthetically and selection-wise. Other nice malls would include South Hills Village and Westmoreland Mall. Monroeville is okay but I don't think it's very nice-looking unless you count the outdoor retail district in front of the mall.

South Side Works seems to have a lot of stores you could find anywhere:

That's true, but it's a newer, outdoor, urban kind of development so it's not like you're walking down a cavernous hallway lined with stores, like a lot of older suburban shopping centers. The Waterfront is similar.

Don't bother refuting Katiana. She hasn't lived near the city for several years, and only comes here to belittle Pittsburgh and Pittsburghers.
