The USX Tower was more of a copper color when it opened. It will get even darker with time, no painting needed.

By the way, it is now apparent that the Mellon Center is going to be more of a pale gold than a bronze. Which I personally find disappointing, but I still think it is an improvement.

I work @ BNY Mellon and we were told early on that the painting scheme would be a suprise. The building is going to be multi colored, but mostly a darker bronze. The top area around the logo will be a shade a pale gold but the rest of the building will be a darker bronze. It should be interesting considering these are the corporate colors.

That is excellent news! I wanted something bold, but I thought it was going to be all one color.

Here is the corporate logo, by the way:

Yeah to me when I look at BNY Mellon I'm still not sure what they're going for in color. It did occur to me that those indentations in the top might be a different color than the rest. Since there are different coats I don't know what (if any) of the colors you can currently see on there is the final.

The light color I've seen is hardly bronze which is what they originally said, but maybe it's close if they're going for those logo colors. I haven't paid attention in last couple weeks really.

The gold on the building could be something like that bottom color. I suppose you could call that middle color "bronze", although to me it looks like another kind of gold.

I just happened to notice the new BNY Mellon sign on top of the tower during my time downtown for Light Up Night and I must say I'm pretty impressed with how it looks, especially the way it changes colors like the Carnegie Science Center logo.

The sign at night is impressive--in the daytime, I struggle to see it!

I love the changing colors of the sign at night. It adds a little "pizzaz" to the skyline at night.

Can anyone tell me why the USX or Mellon buildings don't have a red beacon on the top of the buildings at night? I'm not referring to the red lights on the perimeter of those buildings but a beacon that flashes intermittently. I thought it was FAA policy that buildings over 800 feet have aircraft signals. The Gulf and Grant buildings still have beacons in some form, the latter spelling out "Pittsburgh" in morse code. One Oxford Center did at some point too but it hasn't been active for some time.
