It will be in the G.C. Murphy Building adjacent to Moe's. If you are near Market Square and need a Burrito, you are set. It will be survival of the fittest. Good to see movement, nevertheless.
Chipotle grill slated for Market Square

Of course Las Velas is in Market Square too (although Chipotle is likely going after a somewhat different market).

Anyway, that is a solid tenant, and supposedly more announcements are coming.

Chipolte is well know, and has loyal following.....it will be a hit...as I said in another post... they may need to open another store to accomidate crowds somewhere on the opposite end of Downtown.

definitely a different market. chipitle is like qdoba, a middle of the road burrito joint. it wouldn't be a bad thing, IMO, if they put moe's out of business.

I ate at the Qdobe (sp?) in Robinson and thought it was very mediocre.

Patron's on 19 in Wexford is much better Mexican

I've never eaten at Moe's so I have no opinion on their merits as a restaurant. But I can't say I am fan of how that place looks (it doesn't really fit Market Square).

just don't think a bunch of the middle of the road chains is the best use for market sq. it will work best when it attracts people from outside downtown at night...and to do so, it has to be places worth going downtown for. chipotle isn't one of them but I think it will do decent business but I don't necessarily seem them plus moe's as a good thing for the square. hopefully the market will work, either bankrupting them, or driving them out with high rents if the square is successful. neither is starbucks or even crazy mocha (as opposed to a place that's clearly a step above). the french/new orleans bistro is a step in the right direction, IMO. would still love to see a nice "gastro" pub on the square.

I'm OK with a mix of places, since that is what is going to be best from a residential/tourism point of view, and I think you can do that while at the same time also marketing Market Square as an upscale evening destination. But to pull that balance off, it would probably be good if the places actually on the Square tended to be more upscale/unique, with the "fast casual" (and plain old fast food) places pushed into lower-visibility locations in the approaching streets.

Edit: Oh, and I agree this should more or less take care of itself through the mechanisms of competition and rents.

Both awesome franchises. I hope that Chipotle's arrival does not significantly hamper or hurt Moe's and that they both thrive in that area. Moe's might have the edge because they are allowed to sell beer though.

I'm okay with a mix, and I don't think it needs to be all upscale, just more unique than the same stuff you can get in any suburb or neighborhood. in other words, what's next, a buca di beppo? I tend to agree with your "approach" in having fast casual generally of the square
