OMG, I didn’t mean this thread to be an argument between pigeons lovers/haters, cats lovers/haters etc.

It’s just that I read recently that in Canada I guess, owls died because they ingested rats who died of poison. The conclusion was that the rat poison also kills many animals that eat rats, such as owls, coyotes, foxes etc…

If I am not mistaken this massive flock of birds who died recently had chest bleeding, just like the one I found.
I was wondering if it was any similarity and if somebody else found such thing on their yards.

Anyway I agree that we, humans, are the scavengers, for polluting the planet and allowing species to become extinct. Couldn’t agree more.

Off topic, pigeons are a delicacy in many countries. To this day they still eat song birds in Malta and Cyprus even if the war ended 60 years ago and there’s plenty of food available. What they do there is simply barbarism. here's an article about it in the new yorker

We used to have pigeons in Regent Square. Then a bunch of raptors set up shop in Frick Park. Now, not so many pigeons.

A Podcast with Jonathan Franzen : The New Yorker

I quite doubt that hawks, owls, foxes and other predators eat dead pigeons. I could see turkey vultures, possums and other scavangers eating them, but not predators who kill thier food first and then return to the nest with it.

As for all of this bird, fish and water color problems recently, who knows? All we have is speculation.
