I was just walking across the 9th Street Bridge and looked up to my right in the sky and what an amazing sight. There is a really cool building with a red top and just the amazing different buildings from that vantage point. Then off to my left there was the CAPA building Fiserve and the Convention Center. People need to look up at the top of these buildings. True art and so much work. Amazing. Anyone else have a view that like? My view wasn't the whole city, it was a part of the city. That way you are looking at detail. Stop on that bridge and have a look. Wow!

My favorite view is from Spring Hill. Drive down Yetta Avenue at night and look out over the city. It's like Mount Washington, except the view is from the North Side.

I think one of the reasons I really liked the 9th Street Bridge is because you can see the detail of the buildings very well. I must take a camera down there and take a few good photos. I think most Pittsburgh'ers just don't see how amazing the buildings are downtown. I have traveled all over the world and our architecture is right up there. Maybe not Paris, but we hang in there with some very impressive company.

I actually took a few from either the 7th or 9th street bridge last summer . . . don't think I still have them though. :/

I'm sure many would be quick to say Mount Washington, but I'm going to suggest off the beaten path. A real hidden jewel of a view is Herron Hill Park. Located at the very pinnacle of The Hill, it offers a rare full panoramic view of the city, Oakland, East End, Allegheny Valley, and the North and South Sides. Check it out if you get the chance. Use the upside-down teardrop water tower above Oakland as a reference.

Another way to find great views of downtown is to go up on the top floors of those multi-story parking garages. It's amazing the detail of the buildings you can see from up there.

The surprise you get on the city side of the Ft. Pitt tunnel when you exit, esp. at night and double esp. on a light up night.

I think my favorite view of the city is from the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery:
