Before I moved here, I was living at home in Shepherdstown, WV. That was, eh, about 18 months after a short stint in Philly (school, though, not quite a permanent move). Pittsburgh was going to be temporary too. Heh.

We moved here from Seattle 4 years ago...via Maryland, Va, Guam, Florida etc. Dh was career military and hooked up with me in VA. He is originally from Pittsburgh and I was the one who actually suggested we settle here when he retired. I looooooved Seattle but all our family was East coast so Pittsburgh it was. I have slowly fell in love with it and it is more home than any other place now.

I moved to Pgh from Tamaqua, PA (Eastern PA near Allentown) when I was 8.

Moved to Plantation FL near Ft Lauderdale in 2000.

Returned to Pgh in 2003 (wife was ill and wanted to be near family and UPMC)

Moved back to Hollywood Florida in 2006 (death in family, wanted to be here to support our son).

I'll be moving back one more time. I've had enough of Florida. Ready to come home for good once I find a job and sell the house.

The winters here are better and the beaches are fantastic, but I long for Frick Park, friendlier people, bike commuting on small streets and being able to open the windows all summer long.

A lot of Pittsburghers seem to be in somewhat of a love/hate relationship with the Sunshine State. My landlady was born and raised in Polish Hill, moved to St. Petersburg, FL for several years, and then she moved back here a couple of years ago. She misses FL. I, on the other hand, couldn't be paid enough to live there.

I find that when your weather is usually as dismal as it is in Pittsburgh when you're finally blessed with a GORGEOUS weekend (such as this weekend as a prime example) you relish in it and appreciate it even more. I went running through the Strip District today after work, and it felt so refreshing. My partner, his roomie, and I just got back from getting Rita's Italian Ices in Squirrel Hill, and we had a great time just sitting on a bench along Forbes Avenue and people-watching. Everyone seems to be so happy today. I've been here six months, and now I'm so happy we've FINALLY received some great weather that I don't know what to do with myself!

Clarksburg, WV to Canonsburg then to North Strabane township (Washington County).

I lived in Waynesburg too, but Greene County isn't a part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. However, plenty of people travel to Washington for work from Greene County.
