There have been about a half dozen or so cameras in Carson Street for over a year now. They were placed either directly by or through a grant from the Dept. of Homeland Security. It was explained to me that this was possible since Carson St is within so many yards of a river thus eligible for such DHS assistance.

I'm not a fan of big brother-esque stuff nor do I have much adoration for DHS as an organization.

It goes to show you George Orwell's view of the future really has come true. It is amazing how fear can make us all paranoid and this kind of thing happens. Some crazy stuff. Why leave your house I guess. The boogieman is going to get us. That is what the man is telling us daily.

IMHO, it should be illegal!

But don't you understand, this will catch those scary drug dealers despite the fact it was funded by organization that was designed to catch terrorists! It'll keep us safer or something!

I mean, it makes absolute total sense that we can't secure state funding to save our wonderful transit system but we can secure federal funding to spy on our own citizens!

It is getting worse and worse. The Internet has been a great place to spread huge fear amongst us from the mighty government. It has been a great tool for them and people are going to be fine with eyes in the sky. No privacy, no right and soon they can break into your home with no warrant. Oh sorry, that is already the case, thanks to bush.

Do some research on what the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) is about. Yes, privacy is now a thing of the past.

Obama just signed off on the NDAA bill with bi-partisan support. Screwed from both parties.

Never voted for the guy. I'm an Independent and usually support third party candidates now.
