Question??? Are the riff-raff people actual criminals & drug dealers or just suspicious dressing people???

Also, is Verona in the category "might become the hood or a white man's getto in a decade," with: Sharpsburg, part of West Mifflen, Glassport, Dravsoburg, Brookline, Overbrook, Brentwood,& part of Baldwin??? Personaly, I don't really know too much about the negatives in the places listed. Although I've viewed therds with several post about high drug use in those communities, section 8, & riff-raff people starting up trouble in the places listed.

I think for many they already considered it a rundown area where mainly low income whites live. I would compare it more along the lines of old Sharpsburg, Millvale, and Pitcarin. As long as I can remember it's been talked down about (even in Penn Hills so when PH is looking down on you, lol...) and how how trashy the community was (and it's occupants). But I don't think it's an accurate representation of Verona. Fact is a small portion of it's residents & their kids paint the town negatively. It suffers the same thing as many other low income communities. The houses and apartments are priced low enough to be affordable to lower income individuals. With that comes unsavory folks who are low income due to drugs, system abusers, parole, mental health issues, and the likes. There is still a large percentage of hard working individuals there. I know quite a few people there and my son went to Riverview. If you can afford Oakmont, of course I would choose Oakmont in a heartbeat, but if Verona is what you can afford I don't think it's a terrible place to live. If I were to move to Verona I would avoid down near the tracks and stick to the hills and I'd avoid the bars!

Verona is okay. It also has a couple of bars that are fine. Certainly the Rivertown is a good place with very good food and a huge beer selection. I think the other place is the one with hula dancers and stuff painted on it. It is fine. They cleaned up Blondies on the outside, but that always was a little wilder crowd. Haven't been in that place in over 20 years. I wouldn't feel unsafe anywhere in Verona. Not sure what direction it is going. It seem the wrong way, but I am getting older and that changes your view of where you would live.

In my opinion, Oakmonters are very smug...nothing but old money in Oakmont. It is not the cute blue collar town it used to be...nothing but yuppies...Verona on the other hand, is more a people town. Not a trailer park like someone said. I lived in Verona. People are more down to earth and don't walk around with their noses in the air. Before you take anyones word for anything, just park your car and walk through each town, go into the stores and meet the people...and make your own decision. Not everyone is looking for the same thing. Just a note: below Allegheny River Blvd has always been a little iffy...but come to your own conclusion...give both towns a chance and judge them on their own merit
