Congratulations on your rep badge. You are one of the most informative and knowledgeable posters on city data probably. I will admit though it will be weird to not see you have so many rep things because of your badge.

And the deviousness of Caladium's plot is revealed.

That was very sneaky.

Do people honestly care about forum rep on City-Data? It's one of the least cared about "features" on like... 99.9999999999% of the internet

As a person who pretty much only posts in this forum, I've never thought of it as having much practical significance, other than as a way for people to quickly express if they particularly approved or liked a particular post.

I think the score itself might mean more for people who post in lots of different forums, such that people won't necessarily know each other from experience. And in fact when there is a new poster here I might glance at their post count and reputation just to get a sense of their City Data history.

But in any event, I interpreted this campaign to get my reputation points over the badge requirement as a fun way for some regulars to indicate their appreciation for my contributions to the forum, and I did in fact honestly find that a touching gesture (even if it turned my nice long bar into just a little star).

I never even noticed my stars until last year when someone commented on them. I'm oblivious that way.

Congrats on your star, Brian. May you live long and prosper in many more stars!

LOL I have to admit I was surprised by the euphoria. And surprised to hear of someone keeping tabs on where everyone else is. But, whatever floats your boat, as they say. I'm not a number cruncher so it never struck me as something to follow.

To me seeing someone get a star is like watching your odometer go past 10,000. Maybe not a huge thrill, but passing a milestone is fun. If I happen to notice that's about to happen, it adds a little extra amusement to my day. Life's gotta have its little moments, you know.

Anyway, it was nice to have a little reason to salute someone who puts in a lot of effort. I'm glad I happened to notice it yesterday.

I tried to rep Brian too, but I got the "spread it around" message as well. Congrats, Brian.

It is the thought that counts (and unlike for Christmas or my birthday, this time I mean it).
