Seems he feels he ranks higher than those 27 teachers. What an ego!

A good friend of mine will be retiring from there this year. As a janitor, his package is 55K/year. Not bad.

Seriously? What did he make prior to retirement?

He will make more in retirement, but he has over 35 years service, he started right out of high school.

To me that just makes no sense. I would hire a private company in a second to clean the buildings if I could find a one that employs people that could pass the necessary background check.

That is the way it is with all jobs that rely on taxes as their source. Just normal from top to bottom. Of course the pensions is what will kill the education of the students as we can clearly see with this Gateway example. The boomers are rolling through and they are taking everything with them. They have the numbers and there is nothing anyone can do. That is one heck of a lot of teachers leaving. We are sure going to have a pile of teachers in our region looking for work. It is going to be a wild time during the next 10 years or so.

I have a friend going into public education. She'll no doubt do well as a teacher, but the days of full-salary pensions are definitely nearing their end.

I'm also disappointed you never returned my Direct Message, Curt. You solicited it, after all.

I think that's where it's heading, I'm guessing pensions will be going away except to those at the very top.

I don't know if they have to go away entirely, but they certainly need to be drastically reduced.
