Not sure if this is allowed, but I am a Pitt student and would be grateful for anyone who is familiar with Oakland to check out my survey here. It is 10 questions long and is for a small paper I have to right. Thanks!

Filled it out. I've lived in Oakland for 5 years, and had a lot to say on this survey

The only streets that really have a problem with pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic colliding are 5th Avenue and Bigelow between the student union and cathedral.

A couple of well placed underpasses under 5th, perhaps at Darragh, University Place and Desoto could make the whole pedestrian crossing experience a lot safer.

Pitt has indicated they'd like to take over Bigelow between 5th and Forbes for pedestrian use only. But if they don't do it, a walkway underneath that road seems like a good idea as well to keep all traffic moving.

Forbes and the other streets aren't nearly the hazard as 5th and should probably stay the same.
