A few notes:

(1) Non-seasonally adjusted, nonfarm employment has decreased from November to December in every year since at least 2002 (US Bureau of Labor).

(2) Non-seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment has grown on the YoY basis, albeit at a slower rate than the post-recession years of 2010 and 2011.

(3) Seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment increased from November 2012 to December 2012.

(4) Seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment reached an all time high in December 2012 of 1,169,700 versus 1,168,900 in November 2012 and 1,162,500 in December 2011.

Here is non-seasonally adjusted (Data):

Better to look at year-over-year data. Pittsburgh sports job growth. But it's weak, no matter how you slice it.

Yes I agree with this and I don't question Pittsburgh's job growth, I question how much it has been growing and how does this compare to non Rust Belt areas?

As I posted, the year-over-year job growth for December is weak. And by "weak" I mean compared to Rust Belt and non Rust Belt areas.

I gather I was looking at the wrong numbers. Pittsburgh continues to power out of the recession:

What is the existing labor force prior to the change?

No I am referring to the workforce of Philadelphia, Boston, Denver, etc. You mentioned that Pittsburgh is "powering out of the recession," so I am asking about how many jobs Pittsburgh currently has compared to other cities, not the modest growth that has occurred in the past couple years.

Ah, relative workforce size. Well, "powering out of the recession" is a reference to rate of change. As in, those other cities have lost jobs while Pittsburgh has gained jobs. People move from cities not doing well to cities doing well. Pittsburgh, in terms of job growth, is doing better than just about every US metro. But make of the numbers (December 2012) what you will:

Charlotte 918,811
Pittsburgh 1,268,113
Philadelphia 3,027,490
Baltimore 1,462,152
Boston 2,547,477
Cincinnati 1,107,589
Denver 1,413,329
Benchmark avg 1,445,271
Minneapolis 1,861,729
Detroit 2,004,459
Milwaukee 791,506
Richmond 676,655

St. Louis 1,432,655
Indianapolis 892,023
Kansas City 1,039,805
Cleveland 1,058,115

I discussed this earlier in the thread already, you need to look at the labor force participation rate as a percentage of the population and Pittsburgh lags behind the state and most U.S. cities in this regard. Additionally, just looking at the numbers you posted, Pittsburgh is still way behind Detroit, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Denver, Baltimore, etc. in terms of labor force size, despite the "powering out of the recession" growth.
