Comcast does charge ridiculous amounts for cable. I just switched back to the slowest internet and basic cable and it works fine for me. It's right around $40/month. I miss ESPN HD, but I can watch it online if I really want to. The quality isn't as good, but i'm saving nearly $100/month. I'm an NBA junkie and subscribe to NBA League Pass during the season and use my Xbox 360 to stream live games in HD.

Do you know if it's possible to do that with Hockey?

Yes, but you cannot watch the Pens if you are within a 100 miles or so of Pittsburgh. All of the internet based sport packages have to comply with TV blackout rules. Baseball is probably the worst, as in some cities six or more teams claim the area as their territory.

Ah, but there always ways around. There's an internet service available that changes your IP address and in turn it allows you to appear that you are out of market. You will be able to watch the Pens games even though you are in Pittsburgh.

Money market accounts have had those sort of stupid rules/fees since I worked as a teller back in college (1996-2000) and I assume far longer than that. In 2009, the rules were modified a little regarding the differences between checks and transfers.

My problem is that everyone in my household has different needs. Hubby needs Steelers and Penguins. Kids need fast internet and some lighthearted channels like Comedy Central. I need a phone I can talk on forever because I'm a big talker.

I'm thinking the best course of action is to just keep switching between Verizon and Comcast for the introductory offers. I'm putting out $400/month for cable/internet/home and cell phones that don't even have the data packages. That just makes me sick.
Google "Project Free TV" - Watch all tv series online for FREE and watch TV for free.
Some caveats:
Do not download anything.
Watch new shows, old show, movies, etc.
I've lived outside of the US for years and keep very current with new series.
There are other free TV stations on-line.

I hook up an HDMI cable from my computer to my TV.

Figured I'd chime in. I called comcast and got a deal for tv and internet for 89.99 and that includes self install and hd dvr for free for 6 months. I'm paying $7/mo for modem but ill buy my own soon. Taxes and all comes to $112.
