Wow, thanks for posting those cool photos. Now that was an amazing place. It is quite sad to see such a place get to that level, but that location is really not very good. I guess it is what it is. Shame that part of East Liberty couldn't make a full comeback, but the URA is not helping when it comes to the prime locations. I would say the URA is actually hurting real progress these days. I hope it somehow can be saved, but if not, hope they can save as much as they can.

Preservation Photo

If unfortunately it does get torn down, I hope they strip EVERYTHING out of the inside of it for possible reuse.
WOW! That is a stunning church. I hope they find some way to save it. Absolutely beautiful. I'm sure everything will be salvaged if it is demolished. That stuff is worth a fortune.

Much of it may be used to furnish catholic churches in growing areas, such as down where I live, where a lot of churches are being built. In my church, almost every single item in the interior came from various churches in Ohio--mostly in the Cleveland area. The history of each window, pew, door, etc. is carefully maintained and I guess there is some way of tracking it because people from Ohio sometimes come to visit and see the stained glass window that still has their aunt's nameplate.

That is wonderful that they catalog everything. It must mean so much to the families. Not to mention that kind of craftsmanship hardly exists anymore, it's certainly not available to people of modest means. I'm so glad that those items find their way to a place where they will be used as intended.

OMGoodness! That's a beautiful church! It's a shame if it's torn down. It would make an awesome apartment building or something.

I always wonder about the practical issues to doing something like that but yes, it would be a spiritual experience to live in such a beautiful building. Imagine waking up to see one of those stained glass windows.
