Again, are you aware there's a salary cap?

You haven't mentioned the talent and success that came/developed when these guys were let go.

Again, are you saying they should have kept Harrison?

John Kuhn has his own chant from the Packers fanbase, and he's fullback... That's a notable feat that can be compared to super bowls and pro bowls! IMO he is elite receiving fullback and an integral part of Greenbay's offense. Korey Hall & Quinn Johnson, great run blockers were cut because of versatility of Kuhn (little known facts)... Keeping Kuhn would've been like having a more useful Naejah Davenport, Gary Russell (goal line), or having Matt Speath, Lenord Pope, or David/Will Johnson (receiving options) if he stayed.
All I'm saying is respect John Kuhn debateably the best receiving fullback (besides Vonta Leech, Le'Ron Mclain, Bruce Miller or Marcell Reece)!

Basically because his last name goes well with the cheer just like "The Mooooose", "Heeeeeath", etc... If it weren't for that most wouldn't even know who Kuhn is. He's also cheap at 1.6 mill last year and well known more around here because he went to Shippensburg. If you check his numbers he's certainly not elite unless you're a fan of the fullback/blocking position.

I was being a tad sarcastic , but I remember that he was a fullback to remember during the season when we lost to the Packers in the super bowl... Also there was this list
...
92. John Kuhn
93. Cortland Finnegan
94. Marshawn Lynch
95. Tim Tebow
96. D'Qwell Jackson
97. Donald Penn
98. Willis McGahee
99. Ryan Kalil
100. Chris Johnson

So its a fans vote. I'm betting Packers nation was busy, and/or considering how many people other than Packers fans would have actually watched him play more than a few games, I'd bet overflow from the Super Bowl win a year before. Fan votes/much like the Pro Bowl are popularity contests and people like to say "Kuuuuuuhhhnnnn".

Well the Top 100 Players 2012 (u know the ten part series, ironically Harrison was highest ranked Steeler on the list, Rodgers won) was voted by the players.
Anyway I was just kidding Kuhn is a good (but not great as a fb is not an essential position), who as you said got most of his notoriety from his name. Shoot, I didn't even know Kuhn was cut from the Steelers in the first place.

He made it off reputation, as opposed to actual performance. That happens a lot in the Pro Bowl.

He left before Heinz Field was built, and he's really the last big mistake the Steelers have made personnel-wise.

He was released because the Steelers believed he had an attitude problem, and the fact that he was convicted of a crime later on justifies their opinion. Would you rather he'd been the Steelers' problem instead? They won two Super Bowls without him anyway.

I doubt he'd appreciate being demoted behind LaMarr Woodley.

He left before Heinz Field was built, and the only mediocre PKs the Steelers dealt with were Kris Brown and Todd Peterson in 2001 and part of 2002. Otherwise, Norm Johnson and Jeff Reed were each reliable for years.

You know who replaced Chris Hope? Ryan Clark.

Nate Washington started for the Titans for a few seasons. He was never anything more than the third WR for the Steelers. That makes a difference in production.

He wasn't going to take the starting job from Joey Porter.

The Steelers didn't have problems with the offensive line until 2008, Gandy's 15th and final season in the NFL, during which he was benched by the Falcons in favor of Sam Baker, their first-round draft pick that year. When you get benched in favor of a rookie, you ain't got it no more. Max Starks was better than Gandy by then.

No it's not, considering Three Rivers Stadium didn't generate enough revenue for the Steelers to keep superstars in their primes like Rod Woodson, Kevin Greene and Chad Brown. Of those three, only Brown had an adequate replacement (Earl Holmes). Any good player the Steelers have let go of since has either had a quality starter ahead of them (Vrabel) or a more-than-adequate replacement (Hope), or he's just been past his prime (Faneca).

Kuhn is a FB, and Bruce Arians does not use a true FB in his system of offense. He was released by the Steelers in 2007, the same year Arians became the offensive coordinator. What a coincidence!

Plain and simple, the Steelers have been among the best teams in the NFL at managing their roster this century.

Gnutella

The Heinz Field argument can be summed up in two words: Salary Cap. I agree the Steelers have been one of the best teams at managing their roster since the early 1970s, but prior to that not so much and they have had their fair share of mistakes. Recent draft picks like Limas Sweed and Bruce Davis come to mind. In terms of the Kuhn argument, I still disagree because he is a great football player and not just a fullback. The current running back and tight end group (other than Miller) is a weakness and we let Kuhn go for nothing.

So you're saying they should keep Harrison...and complaining 6 years later about a fullback they had no use for, and have a problem with them prior to the 70's. How many Steeler Super Bowls/appearances since Kuhn?
