This storm is a problem for me. I will be traveling to Vermont hauling a U-Haul trailer. I was planning to leave on Wednesday, but I'll leave tomorrow to ensure I get where I'm going on time. This is insane. It's no fun traveling to New England from Pittsburgh in the winter.

Light or heavy, much all of the snow we get is lake effect. It comes off of
the lake. It's what "Lake Effect" means.
Exactly.

It happens often, all winter long. Yes, the bands weaken by the time
it reaches here, but it's still lake effect snow. Watch the radar and see those
long bands set up right off the lake, and watch them shift around with the wind
direction.
I've seen lake effect bands that have dumped multiple inches of snow in one spot, where a mile away, there was nothing.

And actually, it's not just Erie. if conditions are right, we'll sometimes get snow that originates off Lake Huron.

There's three pages of arguing back and fourth about lake effect snow. Pittsburgh gets lake effect snow. Erie gets heavier lake effect snow....Because it's closer to the goddamn lake. "Lake effect" means that the moisture comes from the damn lake.
