A Pittsburgh girl named Alyssabeth just owned The Price Is Right today. She was the last person to get out of Contestant's Row and play a pricing game today, and she played the Grocery Game for a chance at a trip to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, she lost the game, but she was about to make up for it big-time. When she spun the Big Wheel, she spun $1.00 on her first try, winning $1,000 and a bonus spin, but the contestant who spun after her ended up spinning $1.00 in two tries, winning himself $1,000 and a bonus spin as well, which meant that the two of them would have a bonus spin-off for a chance to win up to $25,000 more, and also to break their tie and advance to the Showcase Showdown. Alyssabeth ended up spinning $1.00 on her bonus spin and winning another $25,000, and the other contestant spun only $.50, so Alyssabeth advanced. In the Showcase Showdown, she chose to bid on trips to Cape Cod, Greece and Paris, and her bid was $25,000. Meanwhile, the other contestant bid $27,000 on a backyard set and a base-model Chevy Cruze, which turned out to be too much. Because he overbid and she didn't, she won her showcase, and ultimately ended winning over $51,000 in cash and prizes!

Just thought it was an interesting story.

Pitt has the only medical school and dental school in W. PA. It's graduate school of public health is the gold standard. Penn State has, I believe, the only ag school in the state. You want to get rid of all that?

The context was "... your one petty thing you'd do if you ran PA?"

Although my hatred of Penn State runs pretty deep. Someone probably would have to hold me back from undermining that cultish hell-beast of an institution in the horrible event that I was Governor of PA...

I don't hate Penn State, but the "We Are..." mentality freaks me out as well.

I was down at The Waterfront this morning and made a quick run into Target. It looked like it had been swarmed by locusts. Shelves were empty. They're baaaack (college students).

I bought a wedding gift for my friend at the Target in McCandless when I was there in June.

This thread is "let's argue about something stupid". Obviously ebola in the US doesn't qualify. Maybe Texas does.

This afternoon I was out shopping for a couple of things I needed to make Thai shrimp curry tonight. Despite having a Market District, a Trader Joe's, a Fresh Market nearby, no such luck finding kaffir lime leaves.

I can only draw the conclusion that the South Hills discriminates against Thais.

Despite the title, it's not just for arguing stupid things.

It seems the whole metro is discriminating against Thais: Finding Thai ingredients in the Pittsburgh area - Pennsylvania - Chowhound

Apparently you can buy them fresh on ebay.
