That's pretty much our norm for winter. Trust me, snow is better.
Never thought about really cold rain... This will definitely be an adjustment! Spent 2 minutes under a bit of rain last week and got a cold from it!.... And it wasn't even cold rain

We actually average 42 inches of snow per winter.

If you ever see 30" you should run like Hell.

They're always wrong, that's for sure, but sometimes more wrong then others.

I could cope with 11% less cold than last year - it was occasionally on the brutal side. And hopefully at least 11% more snow

My ideal forecast is no freezing rain and ice storms, but that's asking too much of Pittsburgh winters since our temps like to hover around 32 degrees.

Did we get much of that last year. I remember a couple of morning that were light freezing rain, but nothing too nasty. memories are notoriously flawed though, and i certainly am not here all the time ...

I wouldn't mind another mild winter like 2011-2012. Not a lot of people realize this, but we actually had close to 40 inches of snow that year. It just melted so fast every time. I've got a feeling it's gonna be on the mild side this winter season (Dec-Feb), and I think we'll have an early start to real spring weather in March. We're due for it, and the pattern we've seen for the past 12 months or so with regard to the jet stream finally seems like it's gonna break. Factor in the very real possibility of El Nino this year, and NOAA may not be too far off the mark.

We'll have cold spells here and there, but NOTHING like last winter. At least that's the one thing most forecasters seem to agree on this year.

That's because last year was too friggin cold for freezing rain.

We all know that last year was not the norm for Pittsburgh. It wasn't the norm for the entire country.
