On a recent visit, I got to feeling claustrophobic. No matter where I drove, I could never escape the insanely hilly terrain. Is there any rolling countryside within a reasonable drive of Pittsburgh, or is it hills, hills, and more hills in every direction?

Rolling terrain is a bit more gentle than what you get here. If you don't like hills, Pittsburgh is not the place for you. This is the Appalachian Plateau, and it contains some rugged country. Hell, down in W Va., some of the roughest terrain is not in the actual mountains, but in the plateau territories.

Rolling hills. Pittsburgh is more like roller coaster.

This is so interesting. I feel panicky when I am in really flat places. I don't know how I survived Chicago. I wonder what makes us have these preferences?
