My dear friend left an abusive relationship. she just rented her own apartment with her infant son but only has a bed for her and the baby and a dining room table. i was wondering if any places offered couches/furniture to woman in her situation. Thanks for any help.

The Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh has a hotline. They note referrals to community services as one of the things the hotline is for, so I would think that they could answer that question.

I've also in the past advertised old furniture that wasn't pretty, but was usable in the free section on Craigslist. You usually need to be able to haul it away, so that can be a difficult part to it. But that's a thought to try. Best of luck to her.

I've tried to donate furniture before but most nobody will take it.

Definitely check Craigslist.

Also check out consignment shops. You can find some really great deals on good furniture.
