I try to stay off of crowded city streets unless I have the time, but some people don't have any choice in the matter,.
And the irony of the people who most vocally resist change/progress regarding bike infrastructure:

I never realized just how many bike riders there are today in the east end. And drivers do regard them as a hazard. Bike lanes or no bike lanes, they need to obey the rules of the road. One way to increase that is to make them identifiable via a visible tag.

It will happen eventually, as accidents increase due to a larger number of bikes on the road during rush hours.

Enjoy your anonymity. It won't last.

Driving is a privilege. Riding a bicycle is a right.

Here in the good old US of A, we don't make people wear an armband for exercising their rights.

From those links, it looks like we need fewer cars on the road, as they seem to be killing bicyclists far too frequently.

You have failed to make the connection demonstrating that tagging bicycles would stop cars from running over or otherwise killing all of these bicyclists. You have effectively pointed out that more safety measures should be taken to protect bicyclists.

You are spouting red herrings (No one will use bike lanes! Why don't they just follow the laws! I see them running reds all the time! They need insurance and licenses and to pay road tax!) that are the darlings of the PG and Trib comments sections, but these don't even hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny.

What is this, Communist Russia? Going to force something unnecessary on an undeserving segment of the people? Where are your papers, sir! How about this, we don't need another law! We don't need to waste money and time coming up with a BS regulation to satisfy the curmudgeons. Those types have plenty to be angry about already, next!

What's the big deal with being identifiable if you obey traffic laws?

I am identifiable, I have a face and a state issued ID, same as most other people on a bicycle over the age of 16. Are you going to make kids get license plates too? Sounds like a lot of unnecessary red tape to me. Why are you for extra laws, taxes and regulations?

Good job.

I'm a regular cyclist, and I'd happily pay license/registration fees. I'm also fine with police ticketing cyclists.
