Energy prices have gone down-- along with some legal issues in question-- are these companies still hiring and if so for what positions... Labor Side, Office Side?

It would be very hard to get into that industry right now. All the oil/gas companies are laying people off left and right. BP cut 4,000 jobs just this year. There are a ton of qualified people out of work, due to these super low oil/gas prices.

My understanding is even when business was booming, they mostly brought in people from out of state to work on the installation jobs anyway - since Texans and Oklahomans already had tons of experience setting up gas extraction equipment.

From what I've read/ witnessed, many involved in the actual drilling are nomadic, traveling wherever gas fields pop up in search of work. I even meant a handful of Aussies here. The high number of rejected candidates in western pa due to failed drug tests is also an issue in regards to local hires.

Front office type positions are much more available to locals, however, as noted above, the industry isn't exactly booming at the moment.

I was talking to someone the other day that was handling some of the payroll accounts of the oil companies, things are way down.
