Menacing the public? By simply riding down the road in a group? Responding to people obnoxiously honking at them with a hand gesture doesn't make them "animals" either...
No, not simply riding down the road. It's the revving of their engines through the red lights, cutting off other vehicles, menacing pedestrians in the crosswalks (one of which was a senior citizen carrying groceries), and the freely handing out of middle fingers and obscenities that was the issue.

I swear if some people in the burgh ever left the neighborhood they lived on & witnessed the world complaints about innocuous things would drop 76%
Exactly.

Again, I had no idea who these people were. I was out minding my own business and all of a sudden I was thrust into a middle of a pack of bikers who were acting like a gang. It would be sad if any of these people happened to be cops.

Cops, doctors, lawyers, average joes, etc..., but makes zero difference. There are rally's like that every weekend at one place or another. They have a police escort and don't have to stop.

Hard to believe anyone in the city would have issue with noise and traffic, however. A few minutes wait and the bikes will be through and on their way.

You are wrong. They were not part of a funeral procession, nor were any of them in uniform or carrying flashing lights. I was lucky I saw them and stopped at the green light. A pedestrian stepping out into a cross walk with the WALK sign might not have been so lucky. Just goes to show that having a motorcycle rally in such a dense urban area without blacking streets and such limited manpower isn't the greatest idea. I suggest they hold it early morning in the Cranberry cul de sacs next time.

I can't be wrong as I never said it was a funeral procession. Just because they're not in uniform doesn't mean there aren't police officers riding on their off time. It's a motorcycle charity ride that includes all walks of life and is escorted and approved by the powers that be. I've participated in many of them.

You should contact the powers that be if you're concerned where they have it...and they do have them in this area and most everywhere else.

Just because the ride is escorted by a bare bones police escort 500 riders ahead doesn't give the rest of the group carte blanche approval to disregard all traffic laws and act in whatever reckless way they sit fit. That was my only point.

Ugh. Some jag on a motorcycle was tailgating my hatchback and revving his engine repeatedly as we drove down South 18th Street from Allentown into the South Side earlier today. I was already just a car-length behind a van that was behind another vehicle, too, because traffic in this city is insane anymore. Did he want me to bully the van and the other vehicles in front out of my way by riding my arse and revving like that the whole way down that twisty road?

It certainly does, as you're told not to stop, and you're to continue on and stay with the group. Again, these are approved rides that occur on a weekly basis no matter where the escorted ride is.
