I'm sorry, but I just can't resist answering to this....have you ever been to Pittsburgh? We have one of the smallest percentages of blue collar workers in the country. We are also ranked as one of the top ten most educated cities in the U.S. I'm starting to think you really did crawl out of coal mine. That's all I have to say.

If you want chic, warm and no humidity I'd suggest skipping Pittsburgh entirely.

Won't anyone here consider either Cheat Lake in WV or Deep Creek Lake in MD? Not sure how they stack up as weekend trips, but they're not far. Some people also have summer homes at Indian Lake, east of Pittsburgh and about a 90 minute drive or so. That's a very large man-made lake with plenty of lake front properties. Have NO clue about pricing at any of these areas - sorry.

Your choice words of description are off. Place hot instead of warm, casual instead of chic but no humidity is correct. That translates into dry desert that is very hot in the summer or 6 mos out of the year. NATURAL terrain is dusty, gray brown, and not much growing. Put your hand up so I can wave at you as I am going home after 7 years of this paradise.

The person you're responding to is no longer a member. S/he was a troll.

Deep Creek- ~1 1/2 - 2 hours from Pittsburgh in MD. Nice lake with good fishing and room for boating activities (water skiing etc). Beautiful, with even more beautiful homes. Definitely a good investment for real estate. I've been there a couple times, really enjoyed my time there. There are homes and such you can rent for a weekend.

Seven Springs- ~ an hour from Pittsburgh on the other side of Westmoreland county. Known as locally probably the nicest ski resort (it's not Utah, but great accommodations). Seven Springs can get very crowded on winter weekends, but if you go on the right day, it is a good getaway. Also fun to go to in the summer. They have a nice golf course, fishing, hiking, an alpine slide, and other common outdoor activities. The restaurants are pretty nice (kinda pricey however). I have good (albeit a couple times painful ) memories there.
