Anyone who works with steel knows it takes alot of time, I was initially surprised that they said it would be open by today, but I was not in the position of knowing all the facts.

Really starting to wish they'd built the Wabash Bridge in the 1990s as planned.

Surprise! Guess which bridge won't be open on Monday: PennDOT: Liberty Bridge Reopening Could Be Delayed For ‘Weeks’ « CBS Pittsburgh

I shall remain on the quest to find a reasonable commute home. If anyone who has powers is reading, if somebody could temporarily allow the center lane on Fort Pitt Blvd to turn left on to Smithfield St (https://goo.gl/maps/GHFeoHuuybQ2) that would be super awesome. Many people's commute would light years better if that happened.

I knew in my gut that retrofitting a 90 year old bridge would not be fast or easy. I figured it would take well over a month if not two.

What are the odds it will fall down when they are replacing the beam?

If you look at the news stories the construction workers are still not parking on the bridge plus they cleared all the weight off it like porta John's and such. If they are worried that a 200 pound porta John is sitting on the bridge then it is bad.

My guess is they built brackets to mount on the concrete pillers then realized it was 80 year old weak concrete
