What a complete waste of money. I'm of the opinion that bikes should NOT be on the roads. It's way too dangerous in a city like Pittsburgh that is tough enough to navigate with the narrow roads and one way roads. I rarely see bicyclists obey traffic laws as they are supposed to do. Furthermore, we don't get enough good weather in a given year to facilitate or optimize bike riding.

Are you also against people walking? With a close minded car centric opinion like yours, I bet you are. And if you say no, and claim you are for better pedestrian access and don't see the connection then you aren't much a big picture guy.

What neighborhood are you from?

That's why we say they are like butt holes, everybody's got one.

Of course you are entitled to that opinion but the fact remains that the LAW states that cyclists do have the right to the road. So unless you can get that law changed, you should follow it and contribute to a lawful and orderly society n'at.

I'm a cyclist and a driver. I see plenty of cyclists doing illegal things like you mention and I've been just as guilty of going 5-10 mph over the limit in my car as I have in jumping a red light (always stopping and looking first, I don't have a death wish) on my bike or jaywalking on foot. The fact is we all make judgment calls that are technically "illegal" but sometimes just improve the overall flow of things and don't make us waste unnecessary time. If the police choose to enforce it, of course we know we are technically guilty and the mature among us would accept it. But the cops have common sense and don't usually ticket jaywalkers or a cyclist on the sidewalk or someone driving 5 over becauae really, and prepare yourself for this, it's really not that big of a F'n deal. Even cyclists who break the rules are usually smart enough to avoid being plowed over by a city bus, the same with pedestrians who jaywalk. It's a city, these things happen, and the only common sense solution is to try to avoid/soften as many potential conflicts as you can because like it or not, in a city, you're gonna have bikes! Give them a tiny bit of their own space, YES ticket their asses when they are riding eradically or blatently disobeying general traffic laws, and stop being so entitled with your "I'm of the opinion" as if that matters one iota when there are laws on the books and lives at risk that those laws are designed to protect.
