No reason to follow the Bucs. Or are the Pirates playing "Moneyball"?

As in follow them thinking they’re going to win anything? No, they’re not going to win anything. They had 3 years of winning with little to show for it and it’s back to losing again.

They’re just doing their usual money dumping. This just happens to be the biggest name yet. Harrison will likely be next.

Um, he batted like .270 last year. Lets not pretend he is some superstar player. He had a few good seasons, but he is going down hill. Not sure why people think he is some great player? He is better than average, but certainly not some big time player these days. It has been years since he batter over .300. Probably a good move to get someone heading into their prime instead of someone on their way out or down to a .250 hitter. I mean, come on.

They dumped his salary and paid $2.5m to SF and got very little in return. He was the best player on the team. Cole was also traded and got very little in return. They simply got rid of close to $20m in salary and they’re not done.

Few players in baseball bat over .300, and most nobody grades players on batting average. If you want to learn the game and value of players, you need to look at OBP and WAR to start. After you understand that you’ll have a better idea of talent level of players.

He’s obviously on the downswing of his career, but he’s still the best player on a team with very few good players.

No loyalty to players who have done so much for this city

It is a business. He batted .270 last season and it seems each season he is batting worse and worse. .270 isn't exactly some "hitter" in the game of baseball. He is a nice guy, but you still have to produce.

Time to give some young players a chance now. It isn't like you can compare McCutchen to the likes of a Stargell, Parker, Clemente, Oliver and others. Just not that great of a hitter these days. He had a few good years though and we enjoyed them.

Cole will be missed by the opposing team`s home run hitters.

McCutchen is the 54th best hitter by batting average in the majors. If you want to add in RBI's and other states he comes in 35th. It isn't iike he was a Bonds or something. He seemed like a very nice guy though and I wish him well on a more competitive team. Not sure if he will get all that much playing time, but maybe.

Lol. He’ll start most every game for almost every team unless he’s injured.

You can’t have loyalty in pro sports. The problem is they’ll keep dumping salary and won’t use it to make the team better.
