5 games from a WC. Definitely a better chance at a WC than the division but they won’t get one.

The PTBNL in the Archer trade was just announced -- 2017 first rounder Shane Baz. All told, Buccos traded their 2011 fifth round pick (Glasnow), 2013 first round pick (Meadows), and 2017 first round pick (Baz) for Archer.

And Glasnow has looked excellent since getting out of town and imo Archer’s best years are behind him.

Well done Pirates for letting go McCutchen. Certainly not worth the big bucks if you are only batting .250ish. I mean, come on.

Rating a player based on batting average went out over a decade ago...but the Bucs still stink and it’s great that he’s able to get out of here and hopefully go to an organization with a desire to win.

Still can’t believe what the organization gave up for Archer.

mccutchen was placed on waivers today. hes having a very comparable season to starling marte so as our 3rd best outfielder we didn't really miss him. Althouogh polanco probably wouldn't have got the chance to turn his horrid first half around if he was still here so thats a plus, especially if polanco stays decent going forward..he was an inch from given up on here.

According to Baggarly, the Giants were waiting to place McCutchen on revocable waivers while they were still chasing a playoff spot, but after they were swept by the Reds over the weekend, it seems they are waiving the white flag. Baggarly expects the Giants to do McCutchen a solid and ship him to a team where he could get more exposure during a potential World Series run. He will be a free agent this winter, and while he is still an above average hitter (114 wRC+), he has graded out as a negative defender in each of the past three seasons (according to FanGraphs).

The cubs will win the division & the bucs most likely wont win a wild card now. they are 72-73.

The Bucs will definitely not get a WC. They’ll be lucky to have a winning season.
